Assa Abloy has connected 80% of its wholesale customers

04 June 2012

More than 80% of wholesale customer now exchange their trading data electronically with ASSA ABLOY, a prominent producer of door lock systems such as FAB, Abloy or Yale.

This has been enabled by implementing an electronic data interchange solution (EDI), realized by CCV Information systems, which offered the wholesale suppliers a choice of how to implement EDI communication into their systems. They could choose between implementing the clearing centre EDI ORION, which would be directly connected to the companies ERP system; or a web-based solution in cases where the company’s system did not allow for integration. The majority of customers has opted for the integrated solution, employing a structured data transfer. This move has confirmed the high rate of EDI penetration among retail chains and DIY retailers, who currently use more than a dozen different types of electronic messages in their day-to-day communication.

“We have opted for a tested provider to support our further EDI development. This also allows us to manage our product data by making use of the Orion eCatalogue. Thanks to this solution, our customers are able to order our products in a straight-forward manner, always relying on complete and easily identifiable information.” said Michal Říha, Business Unit Manager at ASSA ABLOY, ading: “Expanding our electronic communication with other partners sped up the document flow and lowered the number of mistakes in orders and invoices, which in turn improved the quality of service we provide and upped the efficiency of labour, predominantly in the customer service area.”
